William Henry "Bill" Gates, III, as he was officially known, was born in Seattle, Washington, on October 28, 1955, into a middle-class family. On April 4, 1975, Bill Gates and Paul Allen started Microsoft, the largest personal computer software firm in the world. He is among the wealthiest guys on the earth. His estimated net worth is $56 billion, which is greater than the GDP of several African nations put together. He served as Microsoft's chairman and CEO before Satya Nadella, an Indian, took over on February 4, 2014.

William Henry Gates was his father, and Mary Maxwell Gates was his mother. Gates' mother was a member of the United Way and Interstate Banksystem boards of directors, while his father was a well-known lawyer. JW Maxwell was the president of a National bank and Gates' maternal grandfather. Gates has two sisters: Libby, her younger sister, and Kristianne, her elder.

Bill Gates had an interest in computer programming at the age of 13. In 1973, he earned his diploma from Lakeside School. His school organised a fundraiser to buy a teletype terminal with donated computer time from General Electric for the children. It was on this system that he built his first computer programme, which let people play games against the computer. Gates wrote a tic-tac-toe program using BASIC. He later developed a computer version of the board game Risk. Bill met Paul Allen at Lakeside, who shared his passion for computers.. Paid $20,000 for a traffic counting programme named Traf-O-Data, Gates and Allen were 17 years old at the time.He was a scholar with national merit. After completing the Scholastic aptitude tests with a score of 1590 out of 1600, he enrolled in Harvard College in 1973..

Another Harvard graduate, Steve Ballmer took over as CEO of Microsoft on 23 August 2013, following Bill Gates' retirement. At this same period, Paul Allen left Washington College, and Bill Gates left Harvard. Then, in 1974, a few days later, Gate and Paul started working for Honeywell Corporation. In November 1975, they founded a new software firm in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The term "Micro-Soft" was used. This quickly evolved to Microsoft, and on January 1st, 1979, they relocated their business to Bellevue, Washington.

One of the biggest tech firms of the time, IBM, suggested that Microsoft create the BASIC interpreter for their new personal computer, the IBM PC, in July 1980.Microsoft paid a one-time charge of $50,000 to supply IBM as PC DOS. Microsoft retained the MS-DOS operating system licencing rights in order to profit from each computer that IBM sold first. Gates thought that other hardware manufacturers would replicate IBM's setup. They succeeded, and Microsoft's sales increased swiftly. From 25 workers in 1978 to over 90,000 today, the company has grown. Microsoft has created a number of cutting-edge technologies throughout the years, including Word, Excel, and Power Point, three of the most widely used programmes worldwide.

Microsoft debuted the original Windows version in 1985. This was a significant advancement in operating software since graphical interfaces took the place of text interfaces. With the debut of Windows 95 in 1995, new features and standards for operating systems were established. From Windows 2000 until the most recent versions of XP, Vista, and Windows 10, this version of Windows has served as the foundation for all subsequent releases. Search engines are one area where Microsoft has never had as much success. More than 5% of the market has been difficult for MSN live search to capture. Google has outdone Microsoft in this regard.
