MS Dhoni - Captain Cool & Ingenious Keeper

 Dhoni, who was raised in Ranchi, debuted for Bihar in 1999. He played his first test match for the Indian cricket team against Sri Lanka a year after making his debut on December 23, 2004, in an ODI against Bangladesh. He took over as captain of the ODI team in 2007 and eventually assumed command of all forms by 2008. Dhoni played limited overs cricket until 2019 after retiring from test cricket in 2014. In international cricket, he has amassed 17,266 runs, with over 10,000 runs at an average of over 50 in one-day formats.





CHILDHOOD:-


On July 7, 1981, Dhoni was born into a Hindu Rajput family in Ranchi, Bihar (now in Jharkhand) to Pan Singh and Devaki Devi. He was the youngest of three children born to parents who were from the village of Lwali in Uttar Pradesh (now Uttarakhand).The surname is spelt "Dhauni" by his family.


Dhoni completed his education at DAV Jawahar Vidya Mandir, where he began playing goalkeeping football before switching to cricket at his coach Keshav Banerjee's suggestion.Dhoni served as a Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) for the Indian Railways' South Eastern Railway zone in Kharagpur from 2001 to 2003.


In the Indian Premier League, Dhoni plays for the Chennai Super Kings. He has guided his team to ten finals and won five of them (2010, 2011, 2018, 2021 and 2023). Additionally, in 2010 and 2014, he guided CSK to two Champions League T20 championships. In addition to being the first wicket-keeper to reach the five thousand run mark in the IPL, he is one of the select few batsmen to do so.



Dhoni Cricket Career:-


When MS Dhoni played for India against Bangladesh in 2004, he made his debut in international cricket. He was selected for a trip of Kenya and Zimbabwe later that year. He made his debut in an ODI against the West Indies and in a Test match against Sri Lanka in 2006. That was then, and still is, a regular member. MS Dhoni rose to fame during the 2007 T20 World Cup thanks to his performance. He was chosen as the tournament's team captain, and he helped them defeat Pakistan in the championship match. He was the youngest captain in history when he was appointed skipper of the Indian ODI team in 2008.

The Government of India presented Dhoni with the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award, the highest sporting honour in India, in 2008. He was awarded the third-highest civilian honour, the Padma Bhushan, in 2018 and the fourth-highest civilian honour, the Padma Shri, in 2009. The Indian Army granted Dhoni the honorary title of Lieutenant Colonel in the Parachute Regiment of the Indian Territorial Army in 2011. He is among the most well-liked cricket players worldwide.
